Our Reviews
My work is my main effort to make the world a better place and my hearing, impaired since childhood, is vital for these efforts. I started wearing hearing aids when I was 26 years old and likely needed them earlier. I tried to cover deficits with additional effort during schooling, but ultimately, I chose a job where variables affecting sound propagation are manageable. Each time I've had new hearing aids I've experienced the joy of rediscovering events I hadn't known were lacking.
The hearing aids you recently fitted for me have been more liberating than any pair to date in my 64 years. I now have the convenience of a smartphone app that allows volume control and streaming online content with my hearing aids. More importantly, I now rarely ask people to repeat themselves. The vast majority of people are polite when I ask for volume or diction clarity help, but most everyone is slightly annoyed that they have to stop the stream of their thoughts to provide this assistance. What I discovered is that I had withdrawn from that annoyance and had braced myself for this appearance of disfavor even though I know rationally that these facial expressions aren't intended judgmentally. I found this out as these elements are no longer clouding my communications. Those I engage in conversation remain relaxed and I experience infinitely less tension at the end of the day.
Thank you for your assistance,
Respectfully,Paul Lowe, MD, LFAPA
